I've been working hard this year to grow my OutTrippin tailored travel planning business but to really put it to the test, I decdied to go undercover and roadtest it myself.
To understand your customers, put yourself in their shoes (or sandals) and look at your business from their point of view.
With this in mind, I commissioned a trip on OutTrippin.com for a 5 day road trip before the TBEX travel blogger conference I am attending.
STEP 1: Describe the kind of adventure you want to have.
STEP 2: You will be pitched 3 travel concepts from different travel writers – I selected Stephanie Walsh.
STEP 3: Your expert will ask a few questions and plan out your adventure day-by-day.
Stephanie covered off all our requirements, suggesting a trusted rental car company, hotels, activities and tips & tricks along the way.
Note: Stephanie had no idea that I was the owner of the company!

The island trip to Isla Mujeres, the Tulum ruins, amazing Cenotes and Turtle swimming off the beach of Akumal were my absolute highlights.
The undercover mission was a huge success, I now have a list of ideas for how we can make the experience even better. Things like offline maps, weather reports and on-the-ground advice will definitely be part of our future offering.
